PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior women's golfer Ally Scaccia (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after winning medalist honors at the season-opening Redbird Invitational.

Scaccia took home medalist honors for the second time in her last three outings, helping Bradley to a second-place team finish.  She won top individual honors for the second time in her career with a one-under 215 as she finished five shots ahead of second-place finisher Aneta Abrahamova of IUPUI.  Scaccia fired a pair of one-under 71's on the opening day of play at the par-72 Weibring Golf Club and wrapped up the tournament with a one-over 73.  Her three-round total of 215 was the second-best 54-hole score of her career and tied for the fifth lowest three-round score in program history.  Scaccia helped Bradley finish one stroke behind team champion Northern Illinois in the 12-team field which included MVC rivals Illinois State, Southern Illinois, Loyola and Valparaiso.    An international business major, Scaccia owns a 3.38 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Scaccia and the Bradley women's golf team are back in action Monday and Tuesday at the Cardinal Classic in Yorktown, Ind.
