YORKTOWN, Ind. -- Bradley women's golf opened play at the Cardinal Classic with the lowest round in school history and the Braves are second in the team standings after the opening day of play at even-par 576.

Senior Ally Scaccia highlighted the first round for Bradley with a career-best four-under 68 at the par-72 Players Club, helping the Braves fire an opening round four-under 284.  Bradley's first-round score topped the previous school record of 288 turned in this past April in the opening round of the 2017 Bradley Spring Invitational at WeaverRidge Golf Club.

The Braves followed up the opening round 284 with a 292, which tied the fourth lowest round in program history, as Bradley finished the day second overall at even-par 576.  Indianapolis has a seven-shot lead on the 19-team field at 569.  The Braves will take a four-shot edge over third-place Toledo (580) heading into Tuesday's final round and a 10-shot advantage on fourth-place Southern Illinois (586).

Scaccia is tied for third overall at two-under 142, following up her first-round 68 with a 74 in the afternoon.  In the first round, Scaccia was two-over through eight holes, but birdied three of her next four and helped cap her career-best round with an eagle on the par-5, 449-yard second hole.  She moved into third in school history with her 74th career sub-80 round in the afternoon as she overtook Bari Erais (2005-09) on the all-time list.

Junior Chloe Horton is two shots behind Scaccia in a tie for eighth at even par 144.  Horton opened up the tournament with a career-best one-under 71 and wrapped up Monday's action with a second-round 73 as all five Bradley players shot 74 or better in the second round.

Fellow junior Frankie Saban will head into Tuesday's final round one stroke out of the top 10 in a tie for 14th at one-over par 145.  Saban carded an opening round 72 only to fire a second round 73.  Junior Brooke Thompson had a similar first day with rounds of 73 and 74 Monday to close the day in a tie for 21st at 147.

Sophomore Taylor Ledwein extended her streak of consecutive sub-80 rounds to 12 with scores of 77 and 72 to tie the seventh longest streak in school history.  She joined Danielle Lemek as the only Bradley players to own two streaks of 12 consecutive sub-80 rounds during their careers.  Ledwein is tied for 26th at 149 in the 100-person field to round out the scoring for the Braves.

The final round of the Cardinal Classic is scheduled to tee off Tuesday at 8 a.m. (CDT).
