PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore runner Jake Hoffert (Yorkville, Ill./Yorkville) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after winning the individual title at last weeek's Bradley Intercollegiate.

On a hot day in Peoria, Hoffert claimed his first collegiate title at the Bradley Intercollegiate Friday.  The sophomore placed first with an 8K time of 24:51.1 – 32 seconds ahead of the next-highest non-Bradley runner and the fastest 8K time in the MVC this season – while also helping the Braves to the team title.  A manufacturing engineering major, Hoffert owns a 3.38 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Hoffert and the Bradley men's cross country team return to action Saturday, Sept. 30 at the Sam Bell Invitational in Bloomington, Ind.
