PEORIA, IL - Freshman Sandra Maletin won the Singles Flight A championship in her first home event and the veteran duo of senior Alexa Brandt and sophomore Malini Wijesinghe claimed the Doubles Flight B crown, highlighting the performance of five participating Braves in the Bradley Invitational, which concluded Sunday at the David Markin Tennis Courts.

Maletin's day was done early after teaming with sophomore Natalia Barbery to win the Doubles Flight A third-place match with a 6-4 victory against the Western Illinois pairing of Natalia Bravo/Courtney Lubbers. Her opponent for the Singles Flight A championship match, Eastern Illinois' Rachel Papavasilopoulos withdrew from the tournament Sunday morning due to an injury suffered Saturday.

Brandt and Wijesinghe claimed the Doubles Flight B crown with a 6-4 win against the Eastern Ilinois duo of Claire Martin/Srishti Slaria, then squared off against one another in the Singles Flight C third-place match.  Brandt took the intrasquad matchup by a 6-4, 6-2 score.  With her five combined singles (2-1) and doubles (3-0) on the weekend, Brandt moved into a tie for eighth place on Bradley's all-time victories list with 97 combined career wins.  The Brandt/Wijesinghe duo also jumped into Bradley's all-time top 10, using a 3-0 weekend record to take over eighth place with 24 all-time wins as a doubles team.

The Braves will have a week off before returning to action at the 2017 Missouri Valley Conference Women's Tennis Individual Championships Oct. 6-8 at Illinois State's Gregory Street Tennis Courts.  The fall individual season will conclude at the 2017 ITA Central Regional Championships Oct. 19-22 at Kansas.
