PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior guard Danielle Brewer (Coatesville, Ind.) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after helping Bradley Women's Basketball to a pair of Missouri Valley Conference road wins last week.

Brewer averaged 19.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steal per game while shooting 60 percent from the field and 87 percent from the free throw line in the two outings.  She opened the week with what was a then season-best 17 points as she made a career-best seven free throws to go with six boards, one assist and one steal in a 59-57 road win at Loyola.

In the 100th game of her career, the Indiana native had the strongest outing of her career to power Bradley to a convincing 88-69 win at Valparaiso.  Brewer was 7-for-8 from the field, including 2-of-3 from three-point range and had a career-best 22 points against the Crusaders.  She also added seven rebounds, three assists and a steal as she helped Bradley sweep a three-game MVC road swing for the first time in program history.  In addition, Brewer helped the Braves open Valley play with a 3-0 record for just the fourth time in school history.  A public relations major, Brewer owns a 3.85 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Brewer and the Braves return to Renaissance Coliseum this weekend, opening a two-game home stand Friday with a 7 p.m. game against Southern Illinois.
