Ledwein & Braves Second After Day One At MVC Preview

CHESTERTON, Ind. – Three Bradley women's golfers are in the top 10 in the individual standings, paced by junior Taylor Ledwein in a tie for second, and the Braves are one shot off the lead in second in the team standings after two rounds of play at the Missouri Valley Conference Preview.

Bradley had a four-shot lead on the field at the par-72 Sand Creek Country Club after an opening round 320, but slipped into second in the team standings following the afternoon round. The Braves shot a 323 second round on a chilly day to finish at 643, one shot behind first-place Missouri State (642). Illinois State is third overall at 647 and Southern Illinois follows in fourth at 659 in the nine-team field which includes all but Evansville from the MVC.

Ledwein was the individual leader after a three-over 75 in the morning's first round and closed the day tied for second in the field at 10-over 154. Ledwein, who shot a second-round 79, is two shots back of Missouri State's Abby Cavaiani, who sits atop the leaderboard at eight-over 152.

Last year's runner up at the 2018 MVC Championship, senior Frankie Saban joined Ledwein in the top 10. Saban is five shots back of her teammate in seventh overall at 159 after she followed up a first-round 76 with an 83 in the day's second round.

Fellow senior Chloe Horton made her season debut and improved on her first-round 83 with an 81 in the afternoon Monday to close the day in a tie for 10^th at 164. Junior Megan Medinger is close behind at 166 in a tie for 15^th as she looks for her second top-20 finish in the last three outings. Medinger rebounded from a first-round 86 to shoot an 80 in the afternoon.

Sophomore Maddie Hawkins rounds out the team scoring for the Braves in a tie for 33^rd (171), carding scores of 86 and 85 Monday.

Freshman Megan Welch made her Bradley debut at the MVC Preview and is in the field as an individual. She shot an opening round 84 in her first round as a Brave and is tied for 38^th in the 56-person field, posting a second-round 89.

The final round of the MVC Preview is slated to get under way Tuesday with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m.
