Women’s Golf Climbs Into Tie For 11th At Johnie Imes Invite

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Senior Frankie Saban fired a season-best one-under par 71 to move into a tie for 31st and the Bradley Women's Golf team improved by 10 shots from Monday's opening round to move into a tie with UMKC for 11th at the Johnie Imes Invitational Tuesday.

The Braves posted the eighth-lowest round of the day with a nine-over par 297 Tuesday at the par-72 Club at Old Hawthorne as Bradley moved into a tie for 11th with UMKC at 604 in the 13-team field. Arkansas-Little Rock sits five shots back of the Braves in 13th at 609, while Arkansas State is two shots ahead of both Bradley and UMKC in 10th at 602. Only seven shots separate seventh-place Missouri State the Braves in 11^th.

Tournament-host Missouri has a six-shot lead on the field at 12-under 564 after the Tigers matched their first round score of six-under 282 during Tuesday's action.

Saban birdied the final two holes and collected five birdies on the day as she fired her best round of the season with a one-under 71 to move up into a tie 31st at five-over 149. Juniors Taylor Ledwein and Megan Medinger head into Wednesday's final round two shots behind Saban tied for 39th (151). Ledwein carded a 74, while Medinger turned in a 78 after an opening-round 73 Monday.

Jefferson City, Mo., native Brooke Thompson is tied for 53rd at 11-over 153, two shots back of Ledwein and Medinger after posting a season-best 74 for her lowest round since last year's Johnie Imes Invite.

Freshman Sarah Nacos improved by two shots from her first collegiate round as a Braves Monday. Nacos followed up her first-round 80 with a 78 to close the day tied for 63rd at 158.

The final round of the Johnie Imes Invitational tees off Wednesday at 8 a.m. and will feature a shotgun start.
