After leading the Bradley cross country program to unprecedented success in 2018, Darren Gauson was named the recipient of The Roy Griak Award on Tuesday as the USTFCCCA Midwest Region Men's Coach of the Year.

Under Gauson's watch, the Bradley cross country teams have become one of the premier programs in the Midwest. Most recently, the BU men's team earned its first-ever invitation to the NCAA Championship by placing second at the NCAA Midwest Regional last Friday. The Braves also entered the national rankings for the first time in school history at No. 25 on Monday.

Overall, Bradley has claimed seven Missouri Valley Conference Cross Country Championships in four seasons under Gauson's watch. The men's team has won the first four titles in school history during his tenure, while the women completed the sweep in 2015, 2017 and 2018.

Additionally, Gauson has mentored 11 individual champions during his three-plus years on campus – two individual cross country champions and nine on the track.

Bradley is back in action on Saturday, making its program debut in the NCAA Championship. The nation's best is set to compete in Madison, Wisconsin with the men's 10K beginning at 11:45 a.m.
