Bradley Softball Earns NFCA Academic Honors

PEORIA, Ill. -- For the 14th consecutive year, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) has recognized the academic achievements of the Bradley softball team, naming the Braves one of the organization's 2017-18 All-Academic Teams.

In addition, Bradley had five individuals earn Division I All-American Scholar-Athlete honors according to a recent release by the NFCA.

Bradley ranked 90th among NCAA Division I softball programs with a 3.29 grade point average for the 2017-18 academic year and the Braves were one of six Missouri Valley Conference squads to receive NFCA All-Academic Team honors. Grand Canyon owned the top GPA in the country last year at 3.79.

Five Bradley players earned NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete recognition for posting a 3.50 grade point average or higher for the 2017-18 academic year. Those same five individuals earned a spot on the Bradley Athletic Director's Honor Roll both the Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 semesters and eight of 15 Bradley Softball student-athletes landed on the Bradley AD Honor Roll at least one semester in 2017-18.

Former Braves Elizabeth Leonard and Maria Schroeder both garnered the award for a fourth consecutive year and senior Katie Habryle is a three-time NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete winner. Fellow senior Julie Kestas received the honor for a second consecutive season, while junior Emma Jackson was a first-time honoree.
