Braves Track Heads to Notre Dame

After a pair of record-setting performances at the Washington Invitational last weekend, the full Bradley track and field teams are set to return to action at Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
 

MEET INFO
The two-day meet is set to begin on Friday afternoon with track events slated to start at 3:30 p.m. CT. The Braves are slated to compete in the 60m hurdles, 200m dash, 5,000m run and the distance medley relay on the first day of competition.
 
Action resumes on Saturday morning at 8:45 a.m. CT. The Invitational Sections begin at 1 p.m. CT and will be broadcast live on ESPN3. Braves scheduled to compete during the two-hour television block include Michael Ward in the mile (1:30 p.m. CT), Alec Hartman and David Shadid in the 800m run (2 p.m.) and Taylor Floyd Mews and Jake Hoffert in the 3,000m run (2:30 p.m.) in addition to the women's 4x400m relay (2:45 p.m.).

NATIONAL RANKINGS
A trio of Braves are currently nationally ranked as we enter February, while the Braves have entered the national rankings as a team for the first time this season.
 
Ward leads the Braves as he owns the NCAA's 12th-fastest time in the 3,000m run with a school-record mark of 7:58.64, set last weekend at the Washington Invitational. Senior Daniel Gagne is right behind as he own's the nation's 13th-quickest time in the mile run with a mark of 4:00.39, while Floyd Mews is 43rd in the event at 4:04.89.
 

LAST YEAR AT NOTRE DAME
A pair of Braves set school records to highlight the 2017 Meyo Invitational. Shadid opened the meet by breaking his own school mark in the 200m dash with a time of 22.20. In day two of competition, Haran Dunderdale would break the 3,000m record with a time of 8:04.87 – a mark that stood until last week when Ward ran at Washington.
 
Hannah Witczak highlighted the weekend for the BU women's team, recording the fifth-fastest time in the 5,000m run in school history with a mark of 17:06.13.
 

UP NEXT
The Braves are set to compete in two meets next weekend, running at the Iowa State Classic on Friday and Saturday, while also participating in the GVSU Big Meet on Friday.
