Tennis Falls at Creighton, 5-2

OMAHA, NE - In a matchup against its former Missouri Valley Conference rival, Bradley earned the doubles point, but could not carry the momentum over to the singles action, dropping a 5-2 dual match decision at Creighton Sunday at the Hanscom Indoor Tennis Center.

With sophomore Natalia Barbery out of Sunday's lineup due to injury, freshman Sandra Maletin teamed with senior Alejandra de Lasa for a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles. Coupled with a 6-3 win by the Alexa Brandt/Malini Wijesinghe pairing at No. 2 doubles, Bradley snared the day's first point.

Freshman Victoria Gonzalez gave the Braves their second point by earning a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles, but Bradley's chance to squeak out the team victory slipped away when Maletin and Wijesinghe dropped hard-fought, 3-set matches at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, respectively.

Maletin extended her match by grinding out a 7-6 win in the second set, only to see Creighton's Ashley Ishimura pull out a 6-4 decision in the decisve third set. Wijesinghe took her first set by a 6-2 score, only to see Michaela Henne rally for the win at No. 2 singles by winning the final two sets, 6-4 and 7-5.

Bradley will return to action next weekend with a single match Sunday at Iowa. The dual against the Hawkeyes is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start at Iowa's HTRC.
