ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- For the third time during the 2017-18 season and sixth time in his career, senior Ethan Brue (Chandlerville, Ill./AC Central/Illinois Central) has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week according to an announcement by the league office Wednesday afternoon.

Brue finished seventh at the Colin Montgomerie/Houston Baptist Invitational, opening the spring season with a four-under 212 at the par-72 Augusta Pines Golf Club in Spring, Texas.  Earning his fourth top-10 finish of the year and the 11th of his Bradley career, Brue was at four-under following Monday's opening two rounds after a pair of 70's.

He finished out the tournament with a par 72 as he tied for the sixth-lowest individual 54-hole score in program history (212) in addition to extending his streak of consecutive sub-80 rounds to 18.  Brue now owns three of the 10 lowest 54-hole scores in program history.  His efforts helped highlight a spring opener which featured four of five Bradley players shooting par or better.  As a team, the Braves finished second in the 13-team field, which included five teams from the state of Texas, at five-under 859.  Bradley finished under par for a 54-hole tournament for the first time in program history, thanks in part to rounds of seven-under 281 and three-under 285 during Monday's opening day of play.

The six MVC Golfer of the Week selections for Brue are a program record, breaking the previous mark of five held by Lyle Burns.  In addition, Brue is now the 15th six-time MVC Golfer of the Week winner in Missouri Valley Conference history.

Brue leads the Braves with a 72.83 stroke average, which ranks seventh in the Missouri Valley Conference this season, and his score vs. par ranks sixth in the league.

The Bradley Men's Golf team returns to action March 19 & 20 at the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate in Springfield, Mo., where Brue looks to defend his medalist title from last year and the Braves finished first in the 11-team field last spring.
