ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Sophomore Taylor Ledwein (New Prague, Minn./New Prague) has earned Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week honors for the second consecutive week according to an announcement by the league office Wednesday afternoon after earning her first top-10 finish of the 2017-18 season.
Ledwein paced the Bradley Women's Golf team to a fourth-place finish at the 16th annual Rio Verde Invitational over the weekend, tying for fifth in the individual standings. Ledwein finished at seven-over 223 at the Rio Verde Country Club's par-72 Quail Run Course to pick up her first top-10 finish of the season.
After an opening-round 77 Friday, Ledwein carded a two-over 74 Saturday and finished up the tournament with a 72 Sunday to match her lowest round of the year. Her final round 72 helped the Braves fire a third-round 299 for the team's lowest round since Oct. 3 and extended her streak of consecutive sub-80 rounds to 28 for the second longest streak in school history. Ledwein now owns 50 career sub-80 rounds, which is just three from matching the most in program history by a Bradley underclassman (53 by Danielle Lemek).
The MVC Golfer of the Week selection is the fourth this season for the Braves and the third career honor for Ledwein, who was named the Valley Golfer of the Week last week after she tied for 23rd individually at the Amelia Island Collegiate to open the spring slate. Ledwein ranks second on the team and is tied for fourth in the MVC with a 76.00 season stroke average and joins teammate Ally Scaccia as one of seven three-time MVC Golfer of the Week selections in program history.
Ledwein and the Bradley Women's Golf team are back in action March 12 & 13 when the Braves host the Bradley Spring Break Invitational at Brookhaven Country Club in Farmers Branch, Texas.
