Alec Hartman Named COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore runner Alec Hartman (Westfield, Ind./Westfield) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after a record-setting performance at Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational Saturday.
 
Hartman, who was named Missouri Valley Conference Male Track Athlete of the Week, had a record-performance at Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational with the sophomore placing second of 46 runners in the 800 meters. His time of 1:50.32 broke his own school record by more than a second, while also ranking as the top time in the MVC this year (1.66 ahead of second place).  Hartman's 800 meter time ranks 39th in the country, while also ranking fifth in the Midwest Region.  A computer science major, Hartman owns a 3.78 cumulative grade point average.
 
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
 
The Bradley Men's Track & Field team will compete at the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa, Friday and Saturday in addition to the Grand Valley State Big Meet in Allendale, Mich., Friday.
