Maria Schroeder Named COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior infielder Maria Schroeder (Lake Zurich, Ill./Lake Zurich) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after helping Bradley Softball to a 2-1 record last week.

Schroeder hit .700 for the week, going 7-for-10 at the plate with two doubles, six runs and three RBI as she scored or drove in over 40 percent of Bradley's runs for the week. She helped highlight a 12-0, five inning victory over Western Illinois, by doing 3-for-3 with a double, three runs and two RBI. In the weekend series against Loyola, Schroeder was 4-for-7 with a double, three runs and one RBI. She was 3-for-4 with a pair of runs and one RBI in a 7-5 loss to the Ramblers, before going 1-for-3 with a run and a double in a 5-4 victory. A marketing (social media) major, Schroeder owns a 3.86 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Schroeder and the Bradley Softball team open a six-game Missouri Valley Conference road swing with a three-game series at league-leading Drake Friday and Saturday.
