Brue Paces Braves At Ryman Intercollegiate

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Senior Ethan Brue earned his sixth top-10 finish of the season and his 13th as a Brave, tying for ninth in the field at the Ryman Hospitality Intercollegiate to help the Bradley Men's Golf team to a 10th-place finish in the 14-team field. 
 
Brue turned in the low round of the tournament for the Braves, wrapping up the two-day event at the par-71 Richland Country Club with a one-under 70.  He tied for ninth at five-over par 218 to finish in the top 10 for the fourth time in his last five events. 
 
Bradley shot a 303 on the final day to hold on to 10th in the team standings at 903, topping 11th-place Belmont (907) by four strokes.  The Braves were 11 shots back of a tie for eighth at 892 between Maryland and Cincinnati.  One of four participants ranked in the latest Golfweek.com top 100, Rice won the team title by five strokes with a three-round total of 860 (+8).  Tournament host Lipscomb was second at 865 and Chattanooga rounded out the top three at 874. 
 
Brue's 218 was 10 shots behind co-medalists Mitchell Meissner (Rice) and Dawson Armstrong (Lipscomb), who both carded five-under 208's.  Armstrong had a strong final round, posting an eight-under 63. 
 
Redshirt senior Zach Jewell was 10 shots behind Brue at 228, finishing out the tournament with an 83.  Junior Drake Bushong was 56th in the individual standings at 231 after shooting a third-round 80, while senior Matthew Specht shot a 77 in the final round to finish two shots back of Bushong in a tie for 58th at 233. 
 
Redshirt junior Daniel Lensing joined Brue as the only Braves to improve their score in each round.  Lensing capped the event with a five-over 76 Tuesday to earn a share of 62nd at 234. 
 
Junior Michael Mounce was in the field as an individual and tied for 40th overall at 227, missing a top-20 finish by five strokes.  Mounce carded a 78 in Tuesday's final round.
 
The Bradley men's golf team will face 13th-ranked Illinois Saturday in a match play event at Stone Creek Golf Course in Urbana, Ill.  The duel will get underway with tee times starting at 10 a.m.
