WATERLOO, IA – Freshman Kinga Kovacs made her first collegiate win a big one. The mid-year enrollee clinched Bradley's 4-3 Missouri Valley Conference dual win at UNI with a 7-5 (5), 6-2 victory at No. 6 Singles Saturday afternoon at Black Hawk Tennis Club.

The Braves (4-13, 1-2 MVC) snapped their 10-match skid by getting singles wins from their youngsters – freshman Sandra Maletin, sophomore Natalia Barbery, freshman Victoria Gonzalez and Kovacs.

After the Braves dropped the doubles point by falling in two of the three matches, Barbery evened the match, 1-1, by earning a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles. Gonzalez put Bradley in front, 2-1, by earning at 6-2, 7-6 (6) win at No. 5 singles and Maletin put the Braves on the brink of victory by taking a 3-sets win at No. 1 singles – 6-3, 5-7, 6-0.

UNI battled back, however, and pulled into a 3-3 tie by earning 3-set wins at both Nos. 3 and 4 singles, leaving the clinching point for either side up to the outcome of the No. 6 Singles match.

Bradley will play its final road dual match of the regular season Sunday with a 10 a.m. match at league-leading Drake. The regular-season finale is set for next Sunday, April 22, against Valley newcomer Valparaiso at the David Markin Tennis Courts.
