Men's Golf 4/20/2018 12:00:00 PM
PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley Men's Golf was picked to finish fourth at next week's Missouri Valley Conference according to a vote of the league coaches announced Friday morning by the Valley office.

The Braves received 55 points in the poll to finish nine points back of third-place selection Missouri State (64) and 11 points better than fifth-place Drake (44).  Southern Illinois was second in the preseason vote with 69 points behind unanimous favorite Illinois State.

The 2018 Missouri Valley Conference Championship will be held April 23 & 24 at Dalhousie Golf Club in Cape Girardeau, Mo., returning to the venue for the first time since 2013.  Bradley finished fourth the last time Dalhousie served as the site of the Valley Championship.

Play gets underway Monday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start and the first day will feature the opening two rounds.  Tuesday's final round will begin with 8 a.m. tee times.  BradleyBraves.com will provide links to live scoring for all three rounds.

Senior Ethan Brue has finished in the top 10 in six of nine tournaments this season and his two medalist titles in 2017-18 are tied for the most in the MVC this season.  The 2016-17 MVC Newcomer of the Year and All-MVC honoree, Brue enters the Valley Championship fifth in the league in adjusted scoring vs. par and owns what would be a school season record 73.00 stroke average.  He has posted a 72.67 stroke average this spring.

Fellow senior Zach Jewell has also had a solid spring, boasting a 73.17 average this semester.  Jewell has been the team's top finisher in two of the last three events and has fired a 74 or lower in all but one round this spring.  Jewell's 74.42 stroke average this season would rank ninth among Bradley season totals and he is currently 14th in the league in adjusted scoring vs. par.

The second two-time All-MVC performer in program history, junior Drake Bushong will be shooting to become the first three-time All-Valley honoree in school history.  Bushong paced the Braves at last year's MVC Championship and will look to continue a spring season in which he has posted a 74.08 average.

Senior Matthew Specht has a career-best 75.52 stroke average entering the MVC Championship, which includes a 75.33 average in the spring.  Specht will be playing in his third MVC Championship with his best finish coming as a sophomore when he tied for 20th at Prairie Dunes.

Junior Michael Mounce will make his first appearance in the Bradley lineup since wrapping up the fall season at the Little Rock Invitational.  Mounce played as an individual at the Ryman Hospitality Intercollegiate in Nashville, Tenn., earlier this month and tied for 40th in the field.  He has played in two tournaments this spring, posting a 74.17 stroke average and has appeared in five tournaments on the year with a 75.20 average.  Five of his six rounds this spring have been 75 or better.
