Zach Jewell Named COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

PEORIA, Ill. -- Redshirt senior Zach Jewell (Mapleton, Ill./Limestone/Illinois Central) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after earning his second consecutive top-10 finish over the weekend at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate.

Jewell tied for seventh at last weekend's D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate in Normal, Ill., finishing three shots behind the individual leaders at seven-over par 220. After a pair of two-over 73's on a windy day at the par-71 Weibring Golf Club Saturday, Jewell wrapped up the tournament with a three-over 74 in Sunday's final round, which featured snow flurries and wind chills in the 20's. He helped the Bradley men's golf team tie for sixth in the 17-team field. A marketing major, Jewell owns a perfect 4.00 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Jewell and the Bradley men's golf team return to action April 9 & 10 at the Ryman Hospitality Intercollegiate in Nashville, Tenn.
