RICHMOND, VA – Former Bradley Soccer goalkeeper Brandon Barnes (Cary, IL/Prairie Ridge H.S.) has joined the professional ranks, signing a contract with the USL Richmond Kickers, according to an announcement by the Kickers late last week.

Although eligible for selection for Richmond's game this past Saturday against Bethlehem Steel FC, Barnes did not play in the 3-0 loss.  The Kickers (5-13-3) return to action Sunday by visiting Toronto FC II, opening a busy, 3-game week that also will include games Wednesday at Ottawa Fury FC and back home Aug. 18 against Penn FC.

Prior to signing with Richmond, Barnes played for Laredo Heat SC in the National Premier Soccer League, helping his squad to an undefeated regular-season record in his 10 games.

A graduate transfer from Seton Hall, Barnes enjoyed a breakout season in his lone year with the Braves.  A four-time Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player-of-the-Week selection in 2017, Barnes earned All-MVC second-team honors by ranking among the nation's top 20 in five goalkeeping statistical categories:  total saves (3rd, 103); save percentage (8th, .851); goalie minutes played (13th, 1967); saves per game (15th, 4.90); and shutouts (t17th, 9.5).

Barnes becomes Bradley's second USL player in 2018, joining Tampa Bay Rowdies forward Jochen Graf.  The Rowdies and Kickers are scheduled to face each other Sept. 22 in Tampa.
