INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Sophomore forward Gerit Wintermeyer netted his second goal of the year in the fifth minute and Bradley (2-0-1) rode the early strike to a 1-0 victory at IUPUI (0-2-0) Friday evening at Michael A. Carroll Track & Soccer Stadium.

Nathan Wisbey, a redshirt junior making his first career start between the pipes, made two second-half saves to earn his first career collegiate goalkeeping victories.  With Bradley's defense in lockdown mode, Wisbey's first save was not needed until the 80th minute, when he turned away an attempt by Peoria native Tommy Driscoll.  His second save in the 87th minute preserved the shutout in his first career start.

The 6-foot-3 Wintermeyer gave the Braves all of the offense they would need in the fifth minute, when he finished a Frank Bak service with a header from eight yards out past IUPUI netminder Quinn McCallion.

Led by Wintermeyer's seven shots, including four on goal, Bradley finished the game with a 15-11 edge in shots. The Braves put seven of those attempts on target, while IUPUI managed just the two shots on goal stopped by Wisbey.

Friday's game featured a matchup against two former Bradley assistant coaches:  Jaguars head coach Brian Barnett was a Bradley assistant from 2009-15 and his current IUPUI assistant, Ronnie Bouemboue, also was on the Bradley staff 2013-14.

Bradley returns home to host Princeton Sunday at 1 p.m. in the 10th annual Danny Dahlquist Memorial Game at Shea Stadium.  Tickets for Bradley Soccer regular-season home games are $6 for adults, $4 for youth (14 and under) and FREE for Bradley University students, faculty and staff, as well as active members of the military and their immediate family, all with valid ID.
