MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- The Bradley men's and women's golf teams entered Monday's second round of the 2018 Golfweek Program Challenge ninth overall at 592, but the squads were a combined 11 shots better on the second day to surge to fourth overall in the combined team standings of the season-opening event.

On the men's side, Bradley is still tied for fourth overall with Austin Peay at 571 following a second-round 290.  The Bradley women's team posted the fourth-lowest team round in school history at seven-over par 291 to move up three spots into seventh in the women's field at 602.

The unique three-day event to kick off the 2018-19 season combines the men's and women's scores from 14 NCAA Division I schools to determine the overall Golfweek Program Challenge champion in addition to crowning team titles for both genders.  Five-time Golfweek Program Challenge champ Campbell leads both the men's and women's fields and will take a 26-shot lead into Tuesday's final round.

The Braves are fourth in the overall standings at 1,173, five shots behind third-place Delaware (1,168).  Old Dominion is second overall at 1,129, chasing overall leader Campbell (1,103), which is at 41-under par for the tournament.

Junior Taylor Ledwein had the low round of the day for the Bradley women, matching her career-best with a three-under 68 at the par-71 Caledonia Golf & Fish Club Monday.  The first player in program history with multiple rounds of 68 or better, Ledwein's 68 tied for the second-lowest round in program history and helped her move into a tie for 18th at six-over 148.  Ledwein also shot a 68 during the 2017 Bradley Spring Invitational at WeaverRidge Golf Club as a freshman.

Senior Frankie Saban was five strokes better Monday with a one-over 72 and sits one shot behind Ledwein in a tie for 22nd at 149.  Sophomore Maddie Hawkins matched her first round 77 again in the second round to close the day in a tie for 35th (154).  Senior Brooke Thompson follows in a tie for 41st at 155 as she turned in a second-round 78.  Junior Megan Medinger posted her lowest round since her freshman year with a three-over 74 Monday and is tied with Thompson for 41st at 155.

As a team, the Bradley women sit in seventh at 602, one shot out of a tie with Presbyterian and Florida Gulf Coast for fifth.  Campbell leads the women's portion of the tournament at eight-under 560, while Old Dominion is close behind in second at 562.

Two Braves shot even par at the par-72 True Blue Golf Club to highlight the day for the Bradley men's squad.  Seniors Drake Bushong and Branden Mounce had the low rounds of the day for BU with the duo firing matching 72's.

Senior Michael Mounce is still the leader in the clubhouse for the Bradley men's team, however, after yesterday's six-under 66.  Michael turned in a 75 Monday to close the day in a tie for 15th at three-under 141.  Junior Charles Jahn followed up his career-low 70 from Sunday's opening round with a one-over 73 and is two shots back of the team leader in a tie for 24th (143).

Bushong has carded rounds of 72 both days and sits in a tie for 30th at 144, while Branden Mounce was one shot better Monday with his 72 to close the day tied for 35th at 145.  Senior Daniel Lensing matched his opening-round 73 with a one-over 73 and rounds out the team scoring for the Braves in a tie for 42nd at 146.

The Bradley men are tied with Austin Peay for fourth at five-under 571 after 36 holes, four shots behind third-place Old Dominion (567) and 11 back of second-place Gardner-Webb (562).  Campbell has a commanding 33-shot lead on the men's field heading into the final day.

The final round of the 2018 Golfweek Program Challenge will get underway Tuesday with tee times beginning at 6:30 a.m. (CDT).
