PEORIA, IL – Sophomore Sandra Maletin will play in the championship match of the No. 1 Singles Bradley draw after winning her seminal match Saturday, highlighting second-day action in the Bradley Invitational at the David Markin Tennis Courts.

Overall, Bradley's seven players combined for a 5-7 record in singles (3-3) and doubles (2-4) Saturday. Maletin rolled to a 6-2, 6-2 win in her singles semifinal match versus top-seeded Antonella Bramato of Cincinnati. A Missouri Valley Conference All-Select performer in 2017-18, Maletin will face Saint Louis junior Cassie McKenzie in Sunday's Singles Braves championship match.

Bradley's two other singles winners Saturday were junior Natalia Barbery in the consolation semifinals of the Braves bracket and sophomore Kinga Kovacs as a walk-over victor in the White bracket. Barbery cruised to a 6-3, 6-2 win against Western Illinois freshman Mia Melnizki to advance into Sunday's Braves bracket fifth-place match.

The teams opted to play out the final two rounds of the two doubles brackets Saturday. The Bradley duo of Bozana Lojpur/Malini Wijesinghe bounced back from a tie-breaker loss in their Braves bracket semifinal match for an 8-0 victory against the Northern Illinois team of Naves/Slisko in the third-place match. The Bradley combo of Victoria Gonzalez/Perlwitz earned an 8-4 win in their consolation semifinal match in the Braves bracket, but fell in a tie-breaker, 8-7 (5), in the fifth-place match against the WIU team of Ballesteros/Tagaloa.

Six of Bradley's seven players will be in action during the final round of singles Sunday, which is slated for a 9 a.m. start at the David Markin Tennis Courts. Admission for all Bradley Tennis home matches is free.
