TALLAHASSEE, FL – Redshirt junior defender Walid Kherat (Peoria, IL/Richwoods H.S.) has been named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week and Bradley Soccer is receiving votes in this week's CSN Top 30 National Poll, according to weekly updates from the national college soccer website Monday.

Kherat had not appeared in a game for the Braves (3-0-1) during his first three years in the program, but his perseverance has paid off to start the 2018 campaign.  The fourth-year player has started in the back line in each of Bradley's first four games and has not come off the field through the year's first 380 minutes.

This past week, Kherat helped a defensive unit that limited IUPUI (2) and Princeton (4) to a total of just six shots on goal.  He also contributed to the offensive attack in the pair of 1-goal victories.  Kherat earned his first career point by being credited with an assist on Gerit Wintermeyer's fifth-minute goal in Friday's 1-0 win at IUPUI.  Coming out of Sunday's first-half lightning delay, Kherat finished off Younes Dayekh's free-kick service to head home the game's first strike in the eventual 2-1 win against Princeton for his first career goal.

Kherat becomes the 17th Bradley Soccer player honored on the College Soccer News National Team of the Week since 2001, but the first since forward Grant Bell was recognized Oct. 19, 2015.  Each week, CSN selects its top 11 performers from across the nation for its Team of the Week.

Kherat's inclusion on the CSN National Team of the Week, which recognizes the performances of 11 players from across NCAA Division I Men's Soccer, is the 18th in Bradley Soccer history, but the first since forward Grant Bell was honored Oct. 19, 2015.

Aided by Kherat's efforts, Bradley has opened the 2018 season undefeated through four games for the first time since 2011.  The 3-0-1 start has extended its overall unbeaten streak to nine games (6-0-3) dating back to Oct. 28, 2017, the third-longest unbeaten streak in program history.  Recognized for its strong start, Bradley is one of 15 teams among "others receiving votes" in the latest College Soccer News Top 30 National Poll.

The Braves will return to action this weekend by hosting Eastern Illinois, Mercer, Missouri State and Wisconsin in the Bradley Invitational Friday and Sunday at Shea Stadium:
