Shadid Set School Record in Indoor Opener

Iowa City, Iowa – Senior David Shadid set the school record in the 600m on Saturday, highlighting a day with 21 top-10 finishes by the Bradley track and field team at the Hawkeye Invitational.

Shadid ran the distance in a time of 1:21.19 – topping his previous school record of 1:21.74 set last season. The senior led all attached runners in the race (second overall), while junior Scott Seymour placed fourth in the event with a time of 1:22.7, just missing his PR by 0.39 seconds.

The duo was also a part of BU's 4x400 relay, who with a time of 3:22.40, recording the second-best mark in school history. Joining Shadid and Seymour on the team were freshmen Joey Simon and Alex Klinkner.

Simon also placed second in the 800m run with a time of 1:55.20 to highlight the BU men's top-10 performances. Four Braves finished among the leaders in the 3,000m run with sophomore Ben Wagoner and freshman Drew Wenger placing second and third, respectively, in 8:30.51 and 8:32.20.

Sophomore McKenzie Altmayer led the Bradley women at Iowa, placing fourth at the mile run with the eighth-best time in school history. Altmayer, who redshirted the 2018 indoor campaign, crossed the finish line in 4:56.00 to lead the BU women.

Other top performances by the Bradley women include a trio of top-10 finishes in the 3,000m run – Ayah Aldadah (4th, 10:22.91), Kirstin Oakley (9th, 10:29.34) and Morgan Lain (10:46.37). Senior Niamh Markham led the Braves in the 1,000m at 2:55.05 to place fourth, while Brooke Nusser finished sixth in the 800m at 2:17.05 and Kathryn Adelman was seventh in the 600m at 1:37.59.

The Braves are back in action next weekend, competing at the two-day Gladstein Invitational on the campus of Indiana, starting on Friday.
