David Shadid Named COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior David Shadid (Peoria, Ill./Notre Dame) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after breaking his own school record in the 600 meters.
 
Shadid opened his senior season in historic fashion, breaking his own school record in the 600 meters set just last year at the season-opening Hawkeye Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa, this past weekend.  He posted a time of 1:21.19 to break his previous school record of 1:21.74 and also ran as part of Bradley's 4x400 meter relay team which recorded the second-best time in school history at 3:22.40.  A communications television arts major, Shadid owns a 3.55 cumulative grade point average. 
 
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
 
The Bradley track & field teams continue their indoor seasons this weekend at the Gladstein Invitational in Bloomington, Ind., Friday and Saturday.
