PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior forward Chelsea Brackmann (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after turning in just the third 20-point, 20-rebound effort in school history.

Brackmann averaged 16.5 points, 16.0 rebounds, 1.0 assist, 2.0 blocks and 1.5 steals while shooting 59 percent from the field in the first two conference games of the year.  She opened the week with 11 points, nine rebounds, one assist and three steals in 25 minutes of action against Drake before turning in a historic performance against Northern Iowa.  Brackmann matched the Bradley single-game record with 24 rebounds in Sunday's outing against UNI and added a season-best 22 points for just the third 20-20 performance in school history.  In fact, Brackmann had the first 20-point, 20-rebound effort by a Brave since Shelli Braud in January 1988, while her 24 boards tied for the fifth-best total in Valley history and were the most in the MVC since 2009.  A health science major, Brackmann owns a 3.50 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Brackmann and Bradley Women's Basketball return to action Friday in a 6 p.m. game at Evansville.
