Women’s Basketball Makes Season Debut At Red-White Scrimmage

PEORIA, Ill. – Junior Nyjah White was 6-for-8 from the field and scored a game-high 12 points to help the White team to a 34-27 win over the Red Squad as Bradley Women's Basketball made its 2019-20 debut at the annual Red-White Scrimmage, Presented by Crusens, Tuesday night at Renaissance Coliseum.

The Braves played two eight-minute periods with a running clock for the first 14 minutes of the women's portion of the scrimmage, which also featured a three-point shooting contest along with the men's scrimmage and dunk contest.

White paced both teams with her 12 points and also collected four rebounds (three offensive), three assists and one block. Junior Gabi Haack and sophomore Lasha Petree added eight points for the White Team, which also received six points from freshman Veronika Roberts. Sophomore Tatum Koenig came away with a game-high two steals for the White squad.

The Red team was led by seven points each from senior Amber Bozeman and sophomore Aannah Interrante. Freshman Mahri Petree tallied two points, four rebounds, one assist, three blocks and a steal. Senior Ryan Wilkins was 2-for-2 from beyond the arc to finish with six points, while freshman Violeta Verano tied White for game-high honors with three assists to go with her five points.

During the 3-point contest the team of Lasha Petree and Elijah Childs claimed the title over the duo of Gabi Haack and Darrell Brown.

Bradley Women's Basketball will play its only exhibition contest Sunday, Nov. 3, hosting Illinois-Springfield in a 2 p.m. game before opening the regular-season Friday, Nov. 6 at Oakland.
