Kherat Lands on National Team of the Week ... Again

TALLAHASEE, FL – For the second time in his career, Bradley senior defender Walid Kherat (Peoria, IL/Richwoods HS) has been named to the CollegeSoccerNews.com National Team of the Week, announced by the men's college soccer website Monday.

Kherat's latest honor comes after helping the Braves to a 1-0-1 record in a pair of shutout performances last week at Shea Stadium versus Missouri Valley Conference rivals Loyola Chicago and Valparaiso, results that bumped Bradley into second place in the league standings. Not only did he anchor the defensive effort in Bradley's two games last weekend by playing all 190 minutes, Kherat also scored the game-winning goal in Sunday's 1-0 win against Valparaiso.

Aided by Kherat's efforts as a central defender, Bradley limited Loyola Chicago to four shots on goal in Wednesday's scoreless draw and just two shots during the game's final 44 minutes, 11 seconds. Kherat and his defensive mates again limited the opposition to four shots on goal in Sunday's 1-0 win against Valparaiso. The senior defender scored his second goal of the season, and third of his career, in the 67th minute by heading home on a long throw sequence for the game-winning tally.

Kherat previously earned a spot on the CollegeSoccerNews.com Team of the Week Sept. 3, 2018. He joins Gavin Glinton (Nov. 9, 1998 and Oct. 29, 2011) and Bryan Gaul (Oct. 25, 2010 and Aug. 29, 2011) as the only Braves to be twice honored by the website.

After its unbeaten week bumped the Braves (5-5-4, 4-3-2 MVC) into second in the MVC standings with 14 points, Bradley will take a break from the league race by heading out on the road for a pair of non-conference games: Friday at Northern Kentucky and next Monday at Western Illinois.
