Bradley Tennis Primed for MVC Individuals

All seven members of the Bradley Tennis team will compete in the 2019 MVC Individual Championships this weekend

WATERLOO, IA – Bradley Tennis will be represented in all 10 flights – seven singles and three doubles – during the 2019 Missouri Valley Conference Women's Tennis Individual Championships this weekend, hosted by the University of Northern Iowa at Byrnes Park Tennis Center.

Bradley returns five players who competed in the 2018 MVC Individual Championships, where the Braves racked up 16 total wins and posted at least a .500 in nine of the 10 flights. Bradley went on to earn its best-ever Valley finish in the dual season league standings, finishing second with a 4-1 MVC dual match record. Of the five returning players, senior Natalia Barbery and sophomore Bozana Lojpur earned All-MVC first-team honors last season by posting undefeated Valley dual match records, while junior Sandra Maletin was a repeat selection for the MVC All-Select team and paired with Barbery to earn first-team all-league honors at No. 1 doubles.

Through the first two individual tournaments this fall, Bradley's seven players have combined for a 38-15 (.718) record - 25-12 (.676) in singles play and 13-3 (.812) in doubles.

Maletin has paced the Braves, combining for a 10-1 record to date this year. She ran her singles record to 5-0 en route to the Bradley Flight championship two weeks ago at the Bradley Invitational and has teamed with Barbery for a 5-1 doubles record. Sophomore Nikki Perlwitz, who will play in Flight 5 Singles and Flight 2 Doubles with Lojpur this weekend, also is 5-0 in singles action this fall, while the doubles tandem of junior Nina Marjanovic and freshman Victoria Sanchez Bronzetti is 4-0 to date.
