STEPPING OUT OF THE LEAGUE
Bradley will take a break from the Missouri Valley Conference race by playing a pair of non-conference road games in a 4-day span … The Braves will visit Northern Kentucky Friday night, then will take on local rival Western Illinois Nov. 4 … While Friday's game will be Bradley's first-ever visit to Northern Kentucky, the Braves will make their 15th visit to Macomb, where they boast an 8-4-2 record against the host Leathernecks … In the only previous meeting between Bradley and Northern Kentucky, the Braves earned a 1-0 victory Sept. 29, 2012 at Shea Stadium.

*DEFENSIVE PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEK NOMINEE
Walid Kherat, Bradley, Sr., D, Peoria, IL (Richwoods HS)
Not only did Kherat anchor the defensive effort during a pair of shutouts, but he scored the only goal in either of the two games, leading Bradley to a 1-0-1 showing last week that catapulted the Braves into second place in the Missouri Valley Conference standings … Aided by Kherat's efforts as a central defender, Bradley limited Loyola Chicago to four shots on goal in Wednesday's scoreless draw and just two shots during the game's final 44 minutes, 11 seconds … Kherat and his defensive mates again limited the opposition to four shots on goal in Sunday's 1-0 wi against Valparaiso … The senior defender scored his second goal of the season, and third of his career, in the 67th minute by heading home on a long throw sequence for the game-winning tally … Kherat, who netted his first career game-winning goal, logged all 190 minutes in Bradley's two games last week.
*Kherat was named to the CollegeSoccerNews.com National Team of the Week and selected the MVC Defensive Player of the Week.

BRAVES CLIMB TO SECOND IN VALLEY STANDINGS
A year after going 1-5-0 in the Missouri Valley Conference race to finish seventh in the final league standings, Bradley's four points earned in its two games last week temporarily bumped the Braves into second place in the league standings with 14 total points … Bradley will play non-conference road games Friday at Northern Kentucky and Nov. 4 at Western Illinois, before closing out the regular-season Nov. 9 against Evansville at Shea Stadium … While a win against Evansville will be key to the race for a first-round bye in next month's MVC Men's Soccer Championship, the Braves will need some help as now second-place Loyola Chicago (4-1-3, 15  points) still has two Valley games remaining.
Race for No. 2    W-L-T    Pts.   MVC Remaining Schedule
Loyola Chicago    4-1-3     15    #9 Missouri State (A), Valparaiso (H)
Bradley           4-3-2     14    Evansville (H)
Drake             4-4-1     13    #9 Missouri State (H)

FIRST CAREER POINTS
Not only did Walid Kherat score his first career game-winning goal Sunday against Valparaiso, but his finish against the Crusaders resulted in the first career point for a pair of teammates … Sophomore midfielder Nick Feeney started the scoring play with a long throw from the left flank … Defender Jacob McKee was Feeney's target and the 6-foot defender flicked the throw from the near post to the middle of the goal mouth, setting up Kherat for the winner.

LOOKING AHEAD
After Friday's visit to Northern Kentucky, Bradley will close out its non-conference and road schedules Monday with a 2 p.m. clash at local rival Western Illinois … Monday's game will be the 30th meeting between the Braves and Leathernecks, which began during Bradley's inaugural NCAA Division I season in 1987 … The Braves own a 17-10-2 lead in the all-time series and are 2-0-1 in the last three meetings against the Leathernecks … Bradley is 9-3-2 all-time in road meetings against Western Illinois, but is winless (0-1-2) in its last three trips to Mackenzie Alumni Field.
