Bradley Advances Four to MVC Individual Championships Finals

Sandra Maletin will play in Flight 1 Singles and Flight 1 Doubles championship matches Sunday

WATERLOO, IA – Bradley Tennis turned in a strong "Semifinal Saturday" and advanced four entries into their respective flight championships during the second day of action in the 2019 Missouri Valley Conference Individual Championships at Byrnes Park Tennis Center.

Junior Sandra Maletin will play for two championships Sunday after advancing in the top flight of both singles and doubles with senior Natalia Barbery. The Barbery/Maletin pairing earned an 8-6 win in Saturday's Flight 1 Doubles semifinal against Missouri State's Burger/Darter duo and will face the top-seeded Stony Brook team of Bekirova/Wei in Sunday's final. Maletin added a 7-5, 6-1 win against Illinois State's Tara Damnjanovic in the Flight 1 Singles semifinals and will face Stony Brook's Jamie Wei in Sunday's final.

Sophomores Bozana Lojpur and Nikki Perlwitz also delivered semifinal wins Saturday for the Braves. Lojpur downed Stony Brook's Maria Pinto Ribeiro in straight sets – 6-3, 6-2 – in the Flight 2 Singles semifinals, while Perlwitz rallied for a 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 win against Stony Brook's Lizzie Pam in the Flight 5 Singles semifinals. Lojpur will face Drake's Liza Petushkova in Sunday's Flight 2 final and Perlwitz will take on Illinois State's Laura Arcienegas in the Flight 5 championship.

Junior Kinga Kovacs gave the Braves a fifth win Saturday, dropping Missouri State's Alexia Meyer in the Flight 7 Singles consolation semifinal. Kovacs will play Drake's Kendall Hunt for the fifth place in Flight 7 Sunday.
