SPRINGFIELD, MO – In a battle for first place in the midseason Missouri Valley Conference standings, #14 Missouri State (10-0-0, 4-0-0 MVC) scored in the game's first minute and road the momentum to three first-half goals and a 3-0 win against Bradley (3-4-3, 2-2-1 MVC) Wednesday night at Betty & Bobby Allison South Stadium.

Missouri State entered the game as one of the nation's three unbeaten and untied teams and ranked fourth nationally with a 0.324 season goals against average.  The improved their numbers by scoring three times inside the game's first 32 minutes, while limiting the Braves to two shots during the first half.  The Braves managed four shots, all on goal, in the second half, but Missouri State keeper Michael Creek made all four saves to preserve the shutout.

Matthew Bentley assisted the game's first goal and tacked on a pair of tallies of his own later in the first half for the sixth 5-point game by a Bradley opponent in program history.  Bentley's five points were the most by a single player against the Braves since UNLV's Salvador Bernal racked up seven points Aug. 31, 2014.

Bentley set up Ian Jones for what proved to be the game-winner just 60 seconds into the Valley showdown, then scored his two goals in the 14th and 32nd minutes.  His first goal came as the result of counter attack following a Bradley free kick and his second resulted from a corner kick sequence.

The Braves, who were playing on the road for the fifth time in six games, will return to the road for another Missouri Valley Conference clash Sunday when they visit Evansville.  The 3-game road swing will continue Oct. 15 at Omaha, before Missouri State visits Shea Stadium Oct. 19 to complete the MVC season series.
