ST. LOUIS – A day after being named the College Soccer News National Player of the Week, Bradley junior forward Gerit Wintermeyer has earned his second Missouri Valley Conference Player-of-the-Week honor, according to an announcement from the league office Tuesday afternoon.

Wintermeyer, who also claimed the award Sept. 10, 2019 and Oct. 23, 2018, now has been named MVC Offensive Player of the Week three times in his career.  He joins Gavin Glinton (seven times from 1998-2001) and Chris Cutshaw (four times from 2006-09) as the third Bradley player to be named MVC Offensive Player of the Week three times.

Bradley's active career scoring leader and 2019 scoring leader, Wintermeyer added to his totals with three goals, including both game-winners, leading the Braves to a pair of wins last week.  He netted the game-winner with just 23 seconds remaining in regulation last Monday at Western Illinois, collecting a flank service with two defenders around him, but freeing himself enough to fire off a shot from 8 yards out to beat the Leathernecks keeper.

With a chance to climb into the No. 2 seed for the MVC Tournament, Wintermeyer helped the Braves rally for the 2-1 win Saturday against Evansville by burying a 19th-minute penalty kick and then scoring the game-winner in the 82nd minute by finishing at the far post.  Wintermeyer's brace Saturday versus Evansville was the first by a Brave since he also scored a pair of goals in last year's regular-season finale versus the Purple Aces.

Leading the Braves with seven goals this season, Wintermeyer (21) became the ninth player in program history to total 20 career goals and he moved into a tie for sixth in Bradley history with his eighth career game-winning goal.

Bradley (7-6-4, 5-3-2) ended up third in the final Missouri Valley Conference standings with 17 points.  The Braves will open against No. 6 seed Evansville in the second first-round game of the 2019 MVC Men's Soccer Championship Wednesday at Loyola Chicago's Loyola Soccer Park.  The 4 p.m. first-round game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
