PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior forward Gerit Wintermeyer (Wiesbaden, Germany/Friedrich-Ebert Schule) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after helping Bradley Soccer wrap up the regular season with a pair of 2-1 victories.

Wintermeyer, who was named the College Soccer News National Player of the Week in addition to capturing Missouri Valley Conference Player-of-the-Week honors earlier this week, scored three of Bradley's four goals last week.  He netted the game-winner with just 23 seconds remaining in regulation last Monday at Western Illinois.  With a chance to climb into the No. 2 seed for the MVC Tournament, Wintermeyer helped the Braves rally for a 2-1 win Saturday against Evansville by burying a 19th-minute penalty kick and then scoring the game-winner in the 82nd minute.  An economics major, Wintermeyer owns a 3.22 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Wintermeyer and Bradley Soccer earned the #3 seed for this week's MVC Championship with the Braves facing #6 seed Evansville this afternoon at 4 p.m. in Chicago in a first-round match.
