Bradley Softball Adds Six During Fall Signing Period

PEORIA, Ill. -- Twelfth-year Bradley Softball head coach Amy Hayes received six commitments during the 2019 Fall Signing Period, announcing Raegen Branon (Centralia, Ill./Centralia), Maci Hixson (Phoenix, Ariz./Horizon), Julie Logan (Los Lunas, N.M./Valencia), Addison Pettit (Richland, Wash./Richland), Camryn Schaller (Ashland, Mo./Southern Boone) and Jordynn van der Werf (Tucson, Ariz./Mountain View) each signed National Letters of Intent to attend Bradley. 
 
"I am so proud to finally announce this class," said Hayes.  "These young women have speed, power, athleticism and a tremendous work ethic. Their competitiveness and skill sets will strengthen every area of our program. In addition, they will be solid representatives of Bradley University both on and off the field.  We couldn't be more excited to welcome them to our family."
 


Raegan Branon • 5-4 • P • Centralia, Ill. • Centralia H.S.
A third-team all-state selection as a junior, Branon owned a 19-4 record in the circle last spring combined with a 1.95 ERA as she struck out 155 in 139.2 innings of work.  She also hit .427 in 2019 and was named team MVP in addition to garnering all-conference honors after helping Centralia to a school record 29 victories.  Branon has helped Centralia reach the IHSA state quarterfinals each of the last two years. 
 
As a sophomore she boasted a 10-1 record and 1.14 ERA, striking out 92 in 61 innings to earn second-team all-conference honors.  An honorable mention all-conference pick as a freshman, Branon was 8-4 in the circle with a 1.74 ERA.  In her prep career she owns a 37-9 record and has struck out nearly nine batters per seven innings.  Branon also lettered in tennis, earning third-team all-state honors as a junior. 
 
Branon played club ball for Tom Gun Academy and coaches Adam Boyet & Shannon Purvis.  Her coach at Centralia High School is Mallory Ruggles-Kauling

 



Maci Hixson • 5-8 • IF • Phoenix, Ariz. • Horizon H.S.
A career .292 hitter, Hixson was named to the 2019 Class 5A All-District team as a junior after hitting .365 with 14 runs scored and 12 RBI.  She garnered all-region honorable mention honors her sophomore year in addition to earning a spot on the Class 6A all-district team, closing the year with a .323 average.  A two-sport athlete at Horizon, Hixson also lettered in swimming for the Huskies. 
 
A member of AZ Hotshots Gold, Hixson played for coach Gary Davis and her coach at Horizon High School is Jackie Coburn.


 
Julie Logan • 5-4 • IF • Los Lunas, N.M. • Valencia H.S.
At the plate, Logan hit .384 this past spring with five homers and 30 RBI.  Named conference pitcher of the year each of the past three seasons, she owns 446 career strikeouts, but has also been a threat on the base paths where she has over 40 career stolen bases.  Logan was a first-team 5AAAA all-district pick both her sophomore and junior seasons. 
 
As a sophomore, she hit .365 with five homers and 29 RBI on the heels of a freshman season in which she collected four homers and 26 RBI while hitting .365 at the plate.  Logan has helped the Jaguars to back-to-back district titles. 
 
Logan played at the club level for NM Sundancers and coach Paul Kohman.  She was coached by Jeff Young at Valencia High School.

 



Addison Pettit • 5-7 • IF • Richland, Wash. • Richland H.S.
Pettit enters her senior season with a .559 career batting average and 61 of her 133 career hits have gone for extra bases.  A first-team all-state pick at first base last year, she owned a .649 batting average and .738 on base percentage while driving in 55 runs and scoring 41. 
 
She also earned first-team all-state honors following a sophomore season in which she hit .573 to go along with a .673 on base percentage.  Overall, she has scored or driven in 206 runs in her 238 at bats during her prep career.  Pettit is a two-time team MVP and has helped the Bombers to three consecutive conference titles in addition to top-10 state finishes each of the last three years, highlighted by a third-place showing last season.
 
Coached by Bob Benson, Pettit played for WA Angels Gold, while her coach at Richland High School is Casey Emery.

 


 
Camryn Schaller • 5-8 • RHP • Ashland, Mo. • Southern Boone H.S.
Schaller was named Tri-County Conference Pitcher of the Year this fall after posting an 18-5 record with a 1.06 ERA.  Named team MVP for the Eagles, she also led the team with a .420 batting average.  Over the last two seasons she combined for a 32-12 record in the circle with 303 strikeouts over 278.1 innings of work. 
 
A two-time first-team all-conference and first-team all-district selection, she garnered all-region honors this fall as a senior.  Schaller was also named team MVP after a junior season in which she led Southern Boone with a .370 batting average along with owning a 14-7 record in the circle with a 1.52 ERA. 
 
Schaller was a member of Top Gun Academy, where she played for coach Joe Sciara.  Her coach at Southern Boone High School was Ashley Anderson.



 
Jordynn van der Werf • 5-8 • C/U • Tucson, Ariz. • Mountain View H.S.
A first-team all-conference pick as a junior, van der Werf clubbed seven home runs last year in addition to garnering region defensive player of the year honors.  She has been named to the all-region team each of the past two seasons and enters her senior season with 14 career home runs. 
 
A two-sport athlete, van der Werf also lettered in basketball and led the Mountain Lions in assists each of the past two seasons while ranking second on the squad in both scoring and rebounding.
 
van der Werf played for Kelly & Kenzie Fowler and the AZ Desert Thunder at the club level, while her coach at Mountain View High School is Ramon De la Ossa.

 
 
Bradley Softball will open the 2020 season Feb. 7-9 at the New Mexico State Invitational in Las Cruces, N.M.
