KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After having a seven-game win streak snapped with a 75-63 loss to Liberty Friday on the opening day of the Roo Holiday Classic, Bradley Women's Basketball will try to get back in the win column Saturday as the Braves face Eastern Washington in an 11 a.m. game at the Swinney Center.
Bradley (8-2 overall) nearly overcame 22 overall turnovers and a 17-point first half deficit in Friday's outing against Liberty before the Flames pulled away late for the victory. Eastern Washington (1-7 overall) fell 66-55 to tournament-host Kansas City during Friday's other tournament game setting up Saturday's contest which will serve as the third-place game of the four-team tournament.
No video stream will be available for Saturday's game. BradleyBraves.com will provide links to live stats along with the WIRL 1290 AM broadcast of the first matchup with Eastern Washington since December 1984.
- Friday's setback to Liberty snapped a seven-game Bradley win streak which dated back to the 101-39 home opening win against Eureka on Nov. 16. The seven-game win streak is tied for the fourth longest win streak in program history and was Bradley's sixth all-time win streak of at least seven games. The Braves finished at least 16-12 each of the previous five times they had a seven-game win streak.
- Saturday's outing against Eastern Washington will wrap up the non-conference portion of the schedule for Bradley, which is 3-0 in the final non-conference game of the year under fourth-year head coach Andrea Gorski. The Braves are 25-11 overall in the final non-conference game of the year, which includes a 10-4 mark when playing the final non-conference game of the season before Christmas. Bradley has played the final non-conference game of the year outside the state of Illinois just six times with the last three at Saint Louis (2015-16, 2009-10 and 2004-05). Saturday's game against Eastern Washington will be the first neutral site game to finish the non-conference slate in addition to marking the first time Bradley plays the final non-conference game of the year outside of Illinois or at Saint Louis since 1999-2000 (Fresno State). The other two non-conference finales outside of Illinois are at Western Michigan (1998-99) and at Creighton (1990-91).
- Sophomore Lasha Petree scored 22 points Friday against Liberty as she collected her third 20-point game of the season and the ninth of her career. Averaging a team-best 17.0 points per game on the year, Petree has averaged 20.6 points per outing over the last five contests while shooting 40.4 percent from three-point range. In her last four neutral site games including last year's MVC Tournament quarterfinals, Petree has averaged 19.5 points per game while shooting 43.8 percent (14-of-32) from beyond the arc.
- After playing a total of eight minutes in the last two games, senior Chelsea Brackmann returned to the starting lineup Friday against Liberty and finished with eight points and a game-high 12 rebounds in 28 minutes of action. Brackmann has had 12 or more boards in each of her last five starts and tallied at least eight rebounds in each of the seven games she has played at least 10 minutes. Brackmann now owns 34 career outings with 10 or more rebounds, two short of matching the school career mark of 36 held by Sonya Harris (2007-10).
Bradley will have nearly two weeks off from competition before opening Missouri Valley Conference play at home Friday, Jan. 3 against Evansville to kick off a three-game MVC home stand.
