Chelsea Brackmann Named COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior forward Chelsea Brackmann (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after turning in a pair of double-doubles as she helped Bradley Women's Basketball to the title at the Coastal Carolina Thanksgiving Classic.

Brackmann averaged 16.0 points on 61.9 percent shooting and pulled down 12.5 rebounds in the two victories, also averaging one assist, a block and steals per game. In Friday's win against George Mason, she was 7-of-10 from the field and collected 15 points, 13 boards, one assist, one block and two steals. In fact, she hit the game-winning shot at the buzzer to cap a second-half performance in which she had 11 points and nine rebounds. Brackmann had 17 points and 12 rebounds to help Bradley rally from as many as 13 down to defeat Richmond 61-57 Sunday in the title game. A health science major, Brackmann owns a 3.57 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Brackmann and Bradley Women's Basketball open a two-game home stand Thursday, hosting North Dakota State in a 7 p.m. contest at Renaissance Coliseum.
