ROCKFORD, IL – Sweeping through the first four positions int he singles lineup, Bradley (4-1) earned its first-ever road victory against Northern Illinois (2-3) by downing the Huskies, 5-2, Friday afternoon at Boylan Tennis Center.

While Northern Illinois jumped to the early lead by clinching the doubles point, the Braves and Huskies traded the first two singles points.  Sophomore Sandra Maletin put the Braves on the board by cruising to a 6-3, 6-1 victory in the No. 1 position, only to see the Huskies move back ahead by claiming a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 5 Singles.

The Braves took the next three matches to finish, however, clinching their first victory in 10 all-time trips to Northern Illinois when Malini Wijesinghe (No. 3 Singles), Natalia Barbery (No. 4) and Bozana Lojpur (No. 2) all came out victorious.  Lojpur earned the clinching point with a 3-set victory: 6-2, 2-6, 6-3.  The freshman from British Columbia has gone three sets in four of her five matches to start the dual season and she has prevailed in three.

Wijesinghe improved to 5-0 at No. 3 Singles in the dual match season and moved into a fourth-place tie with Teri Chan on Bradley's all-time combined career victories list with her 115th victory (66 singles, 49 doubles).  The reigning Missouri Valley Conference Singles Player of the Week, Barbery nailed down her third consecutive singles win.

Bradley will look to extend its 3-match winning streak Saturday when the Braves take on North Dakota in a noon dual match at the Boylan Tennis Center.  The schools will be meeting for the first time ever in a women's tennis match.
