PEORIA, IL – On a shorthanded road trip, the Bradley Braves were defeated by the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes, 7-0.
With
Sandra Maletin,
Natalia Barbery,
Nina Marjanovic and
Victoria Gonzalez all not making the trip due to injury, the Braves were going to inevitably have a tough time.
Bradley lost the doubles point 3-0 after No. 1
Nikki Perlwitz and
Bozana Lojpur and No. 2
Malini Wijesinghe and
Lindsay Haight fell. The Braves forfeited the third doubles point, as they did not have enough players making the trip.
In singles, four Braves fell in straight sets, while No. 2 Wijesinghe and No. 3 Perlwitz pushed their opponents to third set tiebreakers. Perlwitz fell 10-5 and Wijesinghe fought hard, only to lose 11-9 in the last completed match of the day.
The Braves will again travel south next weekend playing at Southern Mississippi on March 19 and at Nicholls State on March 20.
