Allison Apke Named COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior first baseman Allison Apke (Teutopolis, Ill./Teutopolis) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after helping Bradley Softball to a series win against Valparaiso to open Missouri Valley Conference play.
 
Apke hit a team-best .444 against the Crusaders, going 4-for-9 with a double, one run, four RBI and three walks.  She also boasted a .583 on base percentage and .556 slugging percentage to help Bradley to a 2-1 record.  Apke drew two walks in the series opener against Valpo, going 0-for-2 with a run and one RBI to help the Braves win their MVC opener for the first time since 2013.  In Saturday's second game, she was 1-for-3 with a walk and one RBI in an 8-3 win as Bradley opened league play 2-0 for the first time since 1986.  Apke helped highlight Sunday's series finale by going 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI as she tied a career-high for hits and moved into 10th in career RBI at Bradley.  A mechanical engineering major with a biomedical concentration, Apke owns a 3.30 cumulative grade point average. 
 
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
 
Apke and Bradley Softball take on Missouri this afternoon at 4 p.m. in Columbia, Mo.
