Taylor Ledwein Named MVC Golfer Of The Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- For the second time this spring and fifth time in her career junior Taylor Ledwein has been named Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week according to an announcement by the league office Wednesday afternoon.

Ledwein, who was named MVC Golfer of the Week in late February after leading the Bradley Women's Golf Team at the Lake Oconee Invitational in the spring opener, received MVC Golfer of the Week honors after claiming medalist honors at the Babs Steffens Hatter Collegiate in Daytona Beach, Fla., earlier this week.

Earning the first individual title of her collegiate career, Ledwein claimed the top spot at the Babs Steffens Hatter Collegiate by three strokes, while helping Bradley Women's Golf to a second-place team finish in the 12-team field. Ledwein turned in the lowest 54-hole score of her Bradley career, finishing at one-over par 217 at the par-72 LPGA International Hills Course in Daytona Beach., Fla., to finish three shots ahead of Lamar's Laura Pasalodos Barcelo for medalist honors.

After a one-over par 73 in Sunday's opening round, Ledwein fired a one-under 71 in the afternoon and was tied atop the individual leaderboard at the end of the first day. She returned Monday to card a one-over 73 as she posted the 10th-lowest 54-hole score (217) in Bradley history.

Ledwein is the fifth individual in Bradley Women's Golf history to earn at least five MVC Golfer of the Week awards, joining a list which includes Danielle Lemek (19), Bari Erais (6), Kelly Amundrud (6) and Breanne Neufeld (6).

This season, Ledwein owns a team-best 75.80 stroke average and has three top-10 finishes in the last four outings. Her season stroke average, which ranks second in the MVC, would rank seventh among Bradley season marks.

Ledwein and the Bradley Women's Golf Team return to action April 5 & 6 at the Jan Weaver Invitational in Murray, Ky.
