ST. LOUIS – Bradley sophomore Nina Marjanovic (Belgrade, Serbia) became the latest Brave to be recognized by the Missouri Valley Conference for her performance on the court when she was named the league's Women's Tennis Singles Player of the Week Tuesday afternoon.

Marjanovic becomes the fourth Bradley singles player and fifth Brave overall to be honored with one of The Valley's two weekly honors – Singles Player of the Week or Doubles Team of the Week – this season.  Prior to this 2019 dual match season, a total of four Bradley student-athletes had earned eight MVC weekly honors; but through the first 10 weeks of the 2019 campaign, five Braves have received eight awards.

Feb. 5 – Lojpur and Malini Wijesinghe Doubles Team of the Week
Feb. 12 – Sandra Maletin Singles Player of the Week
Feb. 19 – Lojpur Singles Player of the Week
Feb. 26 – Maletin Singles Player of the Week
Feb. 26 – Lojpur and Wijesinghe Doubles Team of the Week
March 26 – Nina Marjanovic Singles Player of the Week

After missing the previous seven dual matches due to injury, Marjanovic returned to the courts during Bradley's spring break trip and was key to the Braves completing their swing through Mississippi and Louisiana with a 2-1 record.  After dropping a tightly-contested match Tuesday at Southern Miss, Marjanovic delivered a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 6 Singles in Wednesday's 4-3 win at Nicholls State, then added a 3-set win at No. 6, pulling out a third-set tie-breaker, to help the Braves (11-6) rally for a 5-2 win Thursday at New Orleans.

With an 11-6 (.647) dual match record through the end of the non-conference season, Bradley already has enjoyed one of the winningest seasons in the program's 42-year history.  The 11 wins are tied for the eighth-most in a season in program history with the all-time mark of 14 victories in 1986-87 and 1992-93 in sight.

The Braves will attempt to take another step toward that record when they host I-74 rival Illinois State in the Missouri Valley Conference opener Saturday afternoon.  The 1 p.m. dual is scheduled for the David Markin Tennis Courts on the Bradley campus, but may be moved indoors to the Clubs at River City based on weather conditions  Saturday.
