Braves Wrap Up West Coast Trip with Five Top-10 Marks

The Bradley track teams continued action at a pair of California meets on Friday, clocking five top-10 times in school history at the Bryan Clay Invitational and Mt. SAC Relays.

At the Bryan Clay Invitational, freshman Hannah Ivy opened competition for BU with the second-best time in school history in the 400m dash. The rookie crossed the finish line in 56.60 seconds, topping her previous PR by 1.26 seconds and posting the fastest time by a Brave since 1991 when Melodie Turner set the school record in 54.94.

Junior Scott Seymour led the Braves in the 800m run and matched Ivy by posting the second-best time in program history for BU. The junior clocked a time of 1:50.40 to place 25th of 154 runners at the prestigious meet, topping his previous PR by 21 hundredths of a second. Senior David Shadid just missed his personal best by four tenths of a second and posted a time of 1:51.38, while freshman Joey Simon posted the sixth-best mark in BU history at 1:52.99.

Senior Kathryn Adelman led the BU women in the event with a time of 2:12.55

Senior Michael Ward posted the quickest time by a Brave in the 1,500m run at the Bryan Clay Invitational, running the distance in 3:44.87 to place 33rd of 162 runners in Southern California. The senior owns the top time by a Brave this season be nearly four seconds as Ward posted his fastest mark in the event since 2016. Juniors Ben Potrykus and Simon Paige also clocked collegiate-best times in 3:51.05 and 3:51.72, respectively, with Potrykus now ranking 10th in school history.

Senior Niamh Markham led the BU women in the 1,500m, setting a PR and posting the fifth-best time in school history. The senior crossed the finish line in 4:27.84 – 0.21 seconds faster than her previous collegiate best.

Also in action at the Mt. SAC Relays on Friday, sophomore McKenzie Altmayer ran in the 3,000m steeplechase invitational, posting a time of 10:43.96.

The Braves are back in action next week, competing at the Drake Relays and Kip Janvrin Open.
