Sophomore McKenzie Altmayer highlighted day one at the Drake Relays on Thursday night for the Bradley track teams, establishing a new program record in the 3,000m steeplechase.

Altmayer crossed the finish line in 10:31.57 on Thursday, topping the previous school mark by more than five seconds, previously held by Caitlin Bush (10:36.93 in 2014). The sophomore's time is the second-fastest in the Missouri Valley Conference this season, while ranking 42nd in the West Region. Overall, Altmayer placed second of 19 runners in the event at the Drake Relays.

Redshirt freshman Jack Franklin led the Bradley men's team in the opening day of action in Des Moines. The rookie clocked a time of 14:40.31 in the 5,000m run for a PR mark and just missed entering the BU record books' top 10 by less than two seconds.

Bradley continues action at the Drake Relays on Friday, while also competing at the Kip Janvis Open with action slated to begin at 1 p.m.
