WATERLOO, IA – The historic season for Bradley Tennis came to an end Saturday when regular-season league champion Illinois State (19-6) earned a 4-0 win against the third-seeded Braves (16-8) in the semifinals of the 2019 Missouri Valley Conference Women's Tennis Team Championship at Black Hawk Tennis Club.

Bradley's 16 wins in 2019 will go down as the most in program history, surpassing the 14 wins by the 1992-93 (14-7) and 1986-87 (14-7) squads.  The Braves earned the No. 3 seed for the MVC Tournament by producing a program-best 4-1 league record.

Illinois State claimed the doubles point by securing a 6-3 win at No. 3 Doubles and a 6-1 victory at No. 2 Doubles.  The Redbirds also took straight-sets wins at Nos. 5 and 6 Singles to stretch their lead to 3-0, then ended the match by gaining a 3-set win at No. 4 Singles.

The Braves are expected to lose a pair of seniors from their 2018-19 squad.  Malini Wijesinghe ends her career ranked second in Bradley history with 75 singles victories during her four seasons and second with 132 combined singles and doubles wins.  Her 57 doubles victories are the fifth-most in Bradley history.  A 2019 Missouri Valley Conference All-Select honoree, Wijesinghe teamed with fellow senior Lindsay Haight to earn All-MVC honors at the No. 3 Doubles position.
