Desiree Ybarra To Play For Venezuelan National Team

PEORIA, Ill. -- Second-year Bradley Softball Assistant Coach Desiree Ybarra will have a busy August, with the California, native scheduled to play with the Venezuelan National Team at the 2019 Pan Am Games in addition to the Americas Softball Olympic Qualifier over the next month.
 
After pitching for the Venezuelan National Team at the 2018 Central American Caribbean Games and Women's Softball World Championship last summer, Ybarra will once again represent the country this summer. 
 
First up is the 2019 Pan Am Games which will be held July 31 through August 11 in Lima, Peru.  From there, Ybarra will head to Surrey, British Columbia for the Americas Softball Qualifier, August 25 through Sept. 1. 
 
Venezuala is one of 12 teams competing at the Americas Qualifier, with the top two teams in the field earning a spot in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.  Mexico, Brazil, Peru, the Dominican Republic and the British Virgin Islands join Venezuela in Group B of the Americas Softball Qualifier.  Venezuela will face the Dominican Republic in its opening round game Sunday, Aug. 25.
