ST. LOUIS, MO – The Valley's co-leading scorer during the 2018 regular season, Bradley junior forward Gerit Wintermeyer (Wiesbaden, German/Friedrich-Ebert Schule) has been named to the preseason All-Missouri Valley Conference Men's Soccer Team, according to a vote of the league's six head coaches announced Thursday.

In addition to the reveal of the preseason all-conference squad, The Valley also unveiled the preseason poll and the Braves (8-5-4, 1-5-0 MVC in 2018) have been picked fourth in the poll of the coaches.  Bradley returns a league-high eight starters from its 2018 squad, led by the combination of Wintermeyer and senior forward Roman Schindler, who was the team's leading scorer in 2017.  The Wintermeyer/Schindler duo has combined to tally 60 points on 24 goals and 12 assists the last two seasons.

Earlier this week, the 6-foot-3 Wintermeyer was named to the 11-man USL League Two Team of the Season for his play with Chicago FC United this summer.  He earned United Soccer Coaches All-West Region second-team honors in 2018, when he led the Braves with 20 points and eight goals.  Wintermeyer is a two-time All-MVC honoree, receiving honorable mention recognition in 2017 and first-team notice in 2018, and he will enter the 2019 season as Bradley's active career scoring leader with 34 points on 14 goals and six assists through his first two collegiate seasons.

Coming off last week's 1-1 draw against former Valley rival Creighton, the Braves will play their second preseason exhibition Saturday, when they face Mercer in an 11 a.m. scrimmage at Independence High School in Thompson's Station, Tenn.  The defending Southern Conference regular-season champion, Mercer is led by former Bradley associate head coach Brad Ruzzo and features J.R. DeRose, the son of Bradley head coach Jim DeRose, as its No. 1 goalkeeper.

Bradley officially will open its 33rd NCAA Division I season Aug. 30 when the Braves welcome Belmont for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Shea Stadium.  The match against the Bruins will kick off a 4-game home stand for the Braves, which will continue Sept. 6 versus IUPUI in the annual Danny Dahlquist Memorial Game, Sept. 8 against Oakland and Sept. 13 versus Eastern Illinois.

Bradley is offering a discounted season-ticket option - $20 for adults for its nine remaining home games – through Sept. 1.  In addition to personal use, fans also may donate season tickets to the Bradley Soccer Ticket Bank for distribution to local not-for-profit organizations.  For complete Bradley Soccer ticket information or to learn more about the Ticket Bank, contact the Bradley Ticket Office at (309) 677-2625 or BradleyTicketOffice@bradley.edu.
