Men's Golf Opens Season At Crusader Collegiate

PEORIA, Ill. – While Bradley Men's Golf may have many new faces in the lineup, the Braves tee off the 2019-20 season in a familiar setting as they look to defend their title at the season-opening Crusader Collegiate Monday and Tuesday in Chesterton, Ind.

Bradley Men's Golf Head coach Jeff Roche, who is starting his 15^th year as head coach of the Braves, has one of his youngest squads with the Braves having just one returning player on the 2019-20 roster.

Bradley won the Crusader Collegiate last year and two of the last three seasons, with a second-place team finish sandwiched around the two titles. Overall, it's the fourth consecutive year the Braves will take part in the Crusader Collegiate at the par-72 Sand Creek Country Club.

Redshirt senior Alex Ciaramitaro returns to the lineup after missing the 2018-19 season with an injury. He will be joined in the lineup by Parkland College transfer Jalen Hodges along with the freshmen trio of Nick Armbrust, Josh Kirkham and John Stillman, who will all be making their Bradley debuts.

"We are looking for our young talent to take their training in practice and carry that over to their first collegiate tournament," said Roche. "I've told them to take one shot at a time and stay in the moment. I want them to learn to be comfortable in uncomfortable situations."

Two other Missouri Valley Conference teams join Bradley in the Crusader Collegiate field in tournament-host Valparaiso along with Loyola. The 15-team field includes four Horizon League opponents (Detroit, IUPUI, Green Bay and Wright State), along with four Summit league foes (North Dakota, North Dakota State, Purdue Fort Wayne and Western Illinois) and a pair of Big East squads (Butler & DePaul).

Monday's two rounds of action begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start, while Tuesday's final round will have tee times starting at 7:30 a.m.
