PEORIA, Ill. – Fresh off a season-opening second-place finish at the Redbird Invitational earlier this week, Bradley Women's Golf will have the second of three straight weeks of competition with the Braves heading to Yorktown, Ind., for the Cardinal Classic Monday and Tuesday.

Bradley will be competing in the Cardinal Classic for the fourth consecutive year after finishing fourth of 16 teams in last year's event.  The Braves best Cardinal Classic finish came in 2017-18 when Bradley was second of 19 teams in the event held at the par-72 Players Club at Woodland Trails.

Play gets underway with a 7:30 a.m. (CDT) shotgun start to Monday's opening two rounds.  Tuesday's final round will tee off at 8 a.m. (CDT).

Bradley is the lone Missouri Valley Conference school in the Cardinal Classic field, which includes four Mid-American Conference squads (Ball State, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan) along with two Horizon League opponents (Cleveland State & IUPUI) in the 10-team event.

Senior Megan Medinger and junior Maddie Hawkins both played in last year's Cardinal Classic.  Medinger was Bradley's top finisher in the event, firing a then career-best, one-under 71 in the second round and finished fifth overall at five-over par 221.

The Braves opened the 2018-19 season with a strong performance at the Redbird Invitational earlier this week.  Playing without three-time All-MVC performer Taylor Ledwein due to injury, Bradley finished second in the season-opening event with the Braves firing sub-300 rounds for all three rounds of a tournament for the first time in school history.

"I wasn't shocked by our outstanding performance in the opener," said Bradley head coach Halley Morell.  "The team was great and has really worked hard.  We try to simulate tournament pressure in practice, and it's paid dividends."

Sophomore Elyse Emerzian tied for fifth to pace Bradley at the Redbird Invitational.  After a season-opening round of 72, Emerzian fired a career-best, one-under 71 in the second round and capped the event with a three-over 75 to finish at two-over 218.

Bradley had three individuals in the top 15 at the Redbird Invitational, with Medinger finishing 11th overall at five-over 221 and freshman Mara Flaherty tying for 15th at eight-over 224.  Flaherty's 224 was the best score by a Bradley freshman in a season opener in school history.

The Braves follow up the Cardinal Classic with their third tournament in just over a two-week stretch when Bradley heads to Burlington, Iowa, for the MVC Preview Sept. 23 & 24.
